1. What is the Speedo Aquabeat® 2.0?

Aquabeat® is a waterproof audio player. You can store songs, audio books, podcasts and other audio files for listening on the go and in/under/near the water.

2. Do you have a User Manual?

Your Aquabeat® 2.0 will come with a Quick Start Guide, but to download a copy of the complete User Manual, click here

3. What are podcasts?

Downloadable radio-style shows delivered over the Internet that you can also listen to on your Aquabeat®.

4. How do I put music on my Speedo Aquabeat® 2.0?

To use your Aquabeat® 2.0, you must put music, podcasts or other audio files on your computer and then download them to your Aquabeat® 2.0. When you connect the Aquabeat® 2.0 to your computer with the USB cable, select “Open Folder to view files with Windows Explorer”. Your computer will then show the SPEEDO as a drive folder. You can then simply click and drag your music files from your computer to the Speedo Aquabeat® 2.0 folder that appears on your computer screen.

5. How do I get music on my computer?

You can import music from your audio CDs to your computer. You can buy music and audiobooks or download podcasts from numerous online music stores.

6. How do I purchase music on the internet?

If you have an Internet connection, you can easily purchase and download audio files (songs, audiobooks or podcasts) online at various online music stores. You can also subscribe to various online services. Sometimes, you can obtain music for free from some legitimate online services.

7. How do I connect my Speedo Aquabeat® 2.0 to a computer?

Plug the flat rectangular end of the included USB 2.0 Cable into a USB port on your computer. Connect the round cylindrical end of the USB 2.0 cable to your Aquabeat® 2.0. Now you can download from your computer to your Aquabeat® 2.0.

8. How do I use the buttons on my Speedo Aquabeat® 2.0?

9. How do I turn on my Speedo Aquabeat® 2.0?

Press the button with a ►║ on the top of the Aquabeat® 2.0 and hold down for 5 seconds.

10. How do I turn off my Speedo Aquabeat® 2.0?

Press and hold the ►║ button for 5 seconds.

11. How do I get to a song that I want to hear?

You can fast-forward through your song list by clicking on the ˂ or ˃ button one-by-one until you get to the song you want to hear.

12. How do I make the music louder?

Repeatedly press the + button on the side of your Aquabeat® 2.0 until the music volume is perfect for you.

13. How do I make the music lower?

Repeatedly press the – button on the side of your Aquabeat® 2.0 until the music volume is perfect for you.

14. Why does the top button have bumps on one side?

The bumps are a special tactile feature of the Aquabeat® 2.0. The bumps allow you to know what buttons to push without having to look at the Aquabeat® 2.0 while you are in the water. The button on the top surface of the Aquabeat® 2.0 with bumps is to fast-forward to other music. The button on the top surface of the Aquabeat® 2.0 without bumps is to start or stop the Aquabeat® 2.0.

15. Is the Speedo Aquabeat® 2.0 completely waterproof? I won’t get an electric shock if I use it in water, right?

Yes, your Aquabeat® 2.0 is completely waterproof. You should have absolutely no fear of getting an electric shock with your Aquabeat® 2.0 in the water.

16. My player doesn’t turn on, why?

There are a few r6easons why this might be happening.

1. The battery has to be charged. Plug the USB cable into the USB port on your computer and the other end into the Aquabeat®. A full charge takes about two hours.
2. Make sure your music is in either MP3 or WMA format. The player will not work if your music is formats other than MP3 or WMA.
3. If the player still doesn’t turn on, please reset it by pressing “M” key for 10 seconds.

17. My music won’t play, why?

Songs must be in MP3 or WMA format to play on your Speedo Aquabeat® 2.0. If your music will not play, the songs you have downloaded are most likely not in MP3 or WMA format. If, for example you imported songs to your iTunes library, they most likely are in AAC format and have to be converted to MP3. So, although your music appears to be on your Aquabeat® 2.0 from the computer screen, no songs can be heard until they are in MP3 format and re-downloaded to the player. Refer to the User Manual for conversion instructions.

18. How do I charge my Speedo Aquabeat® 2.0? How long does it take to fully charge?

Simply plug the round cylindrical end of the supplied USB cable into your Aquabeat® 2.0 and the flat rectangular end of the USB cable into the USB outlet on your computer. Refer to the battery level icon on the display to check the battery level. The battery icon will be full if the unit is fully charged. A full charge takes approximately 2 hours.

19. Can I charge my Speedo Aquabeat® 2.0 on a laptop?

Yes, however, if you’re using a laptop, we recommend plugging your lap into a wall socket before charging your Aquabeat® 2.0 in order to ensure a full charge.

20. How long does the battery last?

A new fully charged battery provides about 20 hours of continuous play.

21. My computer doesn’t recognize my Speedo Aquabeat® 2.0, why?

There are several reasons why this might be happening.

1. The Aquabeat® 2.0 needs to be plugged in directly into the computer’s USB port and not into the keyboard or a USB hub.
2. If plugged into a laptop, the laptop must be plugged into a wall outlet in a low battery volume.
3. The USB cable is not plugged in all the way.
4. You could have a bad USB port. Try plugging it into another USB port or another computer.
5. Your USB cable may be defective, if you do not see any icons showing on the display of Aquabeat® 2.0 when plugged in.
6. Your PC system may need to be shut down and restarted to clear any issues with the USB port.

22. Does the Speedo Aquabeat® 2.0 have a warranty?

The Speedo Aquabeat® 2.0 has a one-year limited warranty for customers who keep the receipt and the warranty card within serial number. For more information, please refer to the warranty card.

23. What if my Speedo Aquabeat® 2.0 does not work?

Please contact Speedo Customer Service. The contact information shows on the warranty card and Quick Start Guide. If we cannot get your Aquabeat® 2.0 to work and also the product is still under warranty, you can return the product and we will ship you a new one.

24. Where can I buy the Speedo Aquabeat® 2.0?

The Aquabeat® 2.0 can be purchased online at www.speedo.com/digital or at Speedo team dealers and distributors.

25. How do I convert my iTunes music into MP3 format?

Please refer to the User Manual for conversion instructions.

26. How do I change default music settings in iTunes so that my new song files are .MP3 and not .MP4?

IF YOU ARE USING A PC

1. In iTunes, locate the Edit tab on the menu bar and choose EDIT and the Preferences tab.
2. In the Preferences menu, choose the Advanced tab.
3. In the Advanced menu, choose the Import tab and locate the drop-down “import using” and select MP3 encoder.
4. Go to the View menu, choose View Option and make sure the Kind item is checked.
5. By choosing the MP3 encoder, you have changed your default settings to burn and rip all music from CDs into MP3 format. Music from your library can now be converted to MP3 format.

IF YOU ARE USING A MACINTOSH

1. In iTunes, locate the iTunes tab on the menu bar and choose Preferences.
2. In the Preferences menu, choose the Advanced tab.
3. In the Advanced menu, choose the Importing tab and locate the drop-down “import using” and select MP3 encoder. Then select OK.
4. By choosing the MP3 encoder, you have changed your default settings to burn and rip all music from CDs into MP3 format. Music from your library can now be converted to MP3 format.

27. How do I place songs from my CDs onto my Speedo Aquabeat®?

This is called ripping. You will have to convert your CD tracks to MP3 or WMA audio files using a ripping program. You can use various software, but we recommend two: iTunes or DBPOWERAMP (for PC’s Only).

To rip songs using iTunes, simply upload CDs to iTunes or other playlists. Then drag songs from iTunes or other playlists onto the Speedo Aquabeat® window. Remember, default music settings must be set to MP3 format before you upload a CD. To rip songs using DBPOWERAMP, go to www.dbpoweramp.com and install the program to your PC. Follow their instructions for ripping and converting files.

28. How do I place .MP3 or .WMA files onto my Speedo Aquabeat® 2.0?

Connect the Aquabeat® to your computer with the USB cable. A display will open showing Speedo MP3. Select “Open folder to view your files with Windows Explorer”. Keeping this folder open, open your preferred MP3 audio program (iTunes, Winamp, RealAudio, Yahoo Jukebox or Windows media player) and select the songs you would like to upload. Drag and drop the songs into the Speedo Aquabeat® 2.0 window.

29. How do I locate the Speedo Aquabeat® 2.0 window?

On the PC, click on the Start button, then click on My Computer to see ‘Devices with Removable Storage’. The Aquabeat® 2.0 will display as Speedo MP3.

On a MAC, the SPEEDO MP3 file folder will display on the desktop when the Aquabeat® 2.0 is connected to the MAC with the supplied cable.

30. How do I convert .AAC music files to .MP3 format using iTunes?

1. Choose songs from your library that you want converted to MP3 by highlighting them. For multiple songs, hold the CTRL button on your keyboard and select songs using your mouse.
2. Locate the Advanced tab on the menu bar of iTunes.
3. In the Advanced drop down menu, choose Convert Selection(s) to .MP3.
4. iTunes will now begin creating copy of the songs you selected in .MP3 format.

You can now delete the original version of songs you selected to convert, if you choose. The new MP3 formatted songs can now be dragged and dropped into your Aquabeat® 2.0.

31. How do I download converted songs onto my Aquabeat® 2.0?

Follow these steps:

1. 1. Open both iTunes and your Speedo Aquabeat® 2.0 (double click on My Computer and locate the drive that reads, “Removable storage device.”
2. Once you have both iTunes and the Speedo Aquabeat® 2.0 window open, minimize each window so that you have equal boxes side by side.
3. Choose songs from you iTunes music library that you want to download. You can hold the CTRL button down on your keyboard for multiple tracks.
4. Using your mouse, simply drag and drop the music selected into the window of your Aquabeat® 2.0.
5. The status light will flash red on your Aquabeat® as the songs are being downloaded.
6. Unplug the USB cable.
7. Plug in your waterproof earphones and enjoy.

32. I put music on my Speedo Aquabeat®, but nothing happens when I press play, why?

The songs you are most likely dragging over are either “Protected” files or are in .AAC or other format. In either case, these files need to be converted to .MP3 or .WMA. Although these files appear to be on the Aquabeat®, the songs will not actually play through the headphones.
Refer to the User Manual for further instructions.

33. I have deleted some of the songs, but my Speedo Aquabeat® still stays full, why?

You need to empty the trash can (Recycle Bin) on your desktop for the songs to be officially deleted and allow for new tracks.

34. Can I use my Speedo Aquabeat® to transfer and store data files?

Yes, you can use your Aquabeat® 2.0 to save Microsoft Word documents, digital photographs or any other data that you may want to transmit and transport to another computer. It works like a Flash drive/USB stick.

Team Speedo USA star Ryan Lochte continued to dominate the field at the FINA Short Course World Championships on Sunday, winning three more gold medals on the final night of competition in Dubai.

Lochte leaves Dubai with seven medals – a record six gold – two new World Records and the Best Male Swimmer of the Meet award.

Lochte picked up his first gold medal of the night in the men’s 200m back. Lochte and fellow Team Speedo USA star Tyler Clary were in first and second at the 100 meter mark and held on for first and second, respectively. Lochte broke the championship and American record with his time of 1:46.68, while Clary finished in 1:49.09.

Ryan’s second gold of the night and fifth of the meet came in the final of the men’s100m IM. Lochte finished the race in 50.86, just one-tenth off the world record. He then helped lead the U.S. men’s 4x100m medley relay team to a gold medal finish in American Record time of 3:20.99. A strong butterfly leg from Lochte and a standout swim by teammate and fellow Team Speedo USA star Garrett Weber-Gale in the freestyle secured the U.S. Team its first relay gold of the meet.

On Saturday night, Team Speedo USA stars Natalie Coughlin, Katie Hoff, Jessica Hardy and Dana Vollmer combined to win silver in the women’s 4x100m free relay in American Record time of 3:29.34.

Team USA finished atop the medal count with 25 medals as American swimmers took home 12 gold, six silver and seven bronze throughout the five-day competition.

Team Speedo USA stars Ryan Lochte and Katie Hoff led Team USA gold medal haul Friday at the FINA Short Course World Championships in Dubai.

Lochte broke his second world record of the meet with his 1:50.08 win in the men’s 200m IM. He led the field from start to finish and took more than a second off the previous world record. With the win, Lochte became the first person to win the men’s 200m IM three times in a row. Team Speedo USA’s Tyler Clary won bronze in 1:53.56.

On his outstanding performance, he said, “I guess it was pretty fast. It’s just all the training I’ve done.” And when asked about his green limited edition Ryan Lochte Speedo high-tops that he’s been sporting throughout the competition he said, “yeah, that’s the reason I’m going faster, it’s the shoes!”

Hoff won gold in the women’s 400m free with a time of 3:57.07. She took the lead after the first 200 meters to finish in a time that broke both the championship and American record. This is Hoff’s first International individual gold since 2007.

Natalie Coughlin earned a bronze in the women’s 100m free. The Olympic gold medalist finished the race in 52.25, a new American record. Her Team Speedo USA teammate Dana Vollmer was seventh in 52.95

The U.S. women’s 4x100m medley relay, featuring Team Speedo USA stars Coughlin, Vollmer and Jessica Hardy, picked up a silver medal with a time of 3:48.36, a new American record.

Peter Vanderkaay just missed the medal stand in the 400m free, placing fourth in 3:38.44. In the women’s 50m fly final, Christine Magnuson placed seventh in 25.74.

Competition continues Saturday and runs through Sunday. Preliminary heats begin at 10 a.m. local time and finals start at 7 p.m. local time.

Team Speedo USA Off to a Fast Start at World Championships

Ryan Lochte sets first world record 2010

Team Speedo star Ryan Lochte broke the first individual world record of 2010 with his performance Thursday in the 400m IM on the second day of competition at the 10th FINA Short Course World Championships in Dubai.

After winning the 200m free in a new American and Championship Record time of 1:41.08 on night one, Lochte earned his second gold medal of the meet with his record-setting 3:55.70 in the 400m IM. His U.S. teammate and fellow Speedo star Tyler Clary grabbed the bronze with a time of 3:57.56.

Natalie Coughlin earned her first short course World Championship gold in the women’s 100m back with a time of 56.08. Coughlin’s time earned her both the American and championship record in the event.

Team Speedo’s Peter Vanderkaay, Lochte and Garrett Weber-Gale took home silver in 6:49.58, a new American Record time, as part of the men’s 800m free relay in an extremely close race.

Kate Zielger swam to a bronze medal in the women’s 800m free. The race was extremely close from start to finish and Ziegler finished in 8:12.84.

In the semifinals of the women’s 100m free, Coughlin and Dana Vollmer both advanced to the final. Coughlin, who broke the American record in the morning prelims with a time of 52.27, swam a 52.52 in the semifinal to earn the third seed in Friday’s final. Vollmer swam a 52.67 and will be seeded fourth in the final.

In other semifinal action, Christine Magnuson qualified as the seventh seed in the women’s 50m fly final with a time of 25.65, a new American record. Vollmer finished ninth, just missing the final, in 25.84.

On night one, Katie Hoff and Vollmer helped the U.S. women’s 4x200m free relay team set a new American Record in their fourth place finish; Weber-Gale and Lochte helped the U.S. men’s 4x100m free relay team set an American Record of their own, also finishing fourth.

Competition continues Friday and runs through Sunday.

Team Speedo® Honored at the 2010 Golden Goggle Awards

It was a big night for Team Speedo® in New York City late last month at the 2010 Golden Goggle Awards as Ryan Lochte, Natalie Coughlin, Dana Vollmer, Jessica Hardy and Kate Ziegler were honored during the star-studded gala held at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square.

Hosted by national TV correspondent and co-host of NBC’s TODAY Natalie Morales, the Awards celebrated the accomplishments of the 2010 Pan Pacific Championship Team that competed in Irvine, Calif., this summer.

Speedo® star Lochte took home top honor as Male Athlete of the Year and also won Male Race of the Year with his dominant performance in the 200m IM at the Mutual of Omaha Pan Pacific Championships. The two-time Olympian won a total of six gold medals at the meet, earning titles in the 200m free, 400m and 200m IM, 200m back and as part of the 400m and 800m free relay teams. Lochte broke a total of five championship records and two U.S. Open records at Pan Pacs.

Team Speedo® stars Natalie Coughlin, Dana Vollmer and Jessica Hardy, along with Team USA’s Rebecca Soni, took home the award for Relay Performance of the Year for their gold-medal performance in the women’s 4x100m medley relay at the Pan Pacific Championships.

Kate Ziegler claimed the Perseverance Award for her strong performance in 2010. In her first international competition since the 2008 Olympics, Ziegler put together a strong year, winning a gold medal in the 800m free at Pan Pacs and a silver medal in the 1500m free.

The Coach of the Year award was presented to University of Florida and Gator Swim Club head coach Gregg Troy. Troy was the head coach of the U.S. men’s team at the 2010 Mutual of Omaha Pan Pacific Championships which took home a total of 21 total medals and is also Lochte’s personal coach.
